1/6 plate tintype of an unknown Sergeant Major in his shell jacket and military vest. The rank of sergeant major was the highest ranking NCO in the military.
NCOs of this rank would have commanded approximately 1,000 men and have been in charge of the regiment, reporting to the senior officer of the regiment. The
chevrons on this image have an ever so slight blue tinting to them to reflect his service in the infantry. The image is clear and very well focused, but a bit
darker than I would prefer. The image comes in a full thermoplastic case that is the patriotic "Union Shield". The case is in very good condition with only a
few nicks on the edges and a corner and a crack at the clasp. #10521=$525.00
