Taken on July 1, 1864 as dated by the 5 Cent "Agreement" stamp on the reverse, the soldier featured in this 1/6 plate
tintype stands at attention in front of a white canvas sheet that is tacked to the exterior side of a building on one side.
The other side seems to be secured to a post or beam. The soldier wears a frock coat and has a waist belt plate with a US
buckle (gilded) and a cross belt plate with an eagle button (also gilded). He has a cartridge box and kepi and holds his musket
with attached bayonet. He is standing on ground (grass or dirt). The image has no bends and is particularly well focused in the
face, but a little soft focus toward his lower body. The tintype comes in a composite case. #11039=$500.00
