A bit soft focus is the only negative about this 1/4 plate tintype. This early war image features a soldier in his frock coat with brass shoulder scales and wearing a kepi.
He has his US plate with associated belt. On the belt are his cap box, cartridge box and bayonet scabbard with an early war sword type bayonet. He also holds his musket
at attention which features another bayonet. I wonder what is real and what is a prop. Maybe everything is a prop! Clearly, he wouldn't have had two bayonets. The image
comes in a gutta purcha case that has had some repair at the top edge over the pillow. The case displays the image extremely well. #3203=$550.00
