An early war cavalry trooper wearing his issue brass shoulder scales that were most likely disposed of very quickly once in the field. He has
a Model 1858 Starr revolver tucked behind his rectangular eagle & wreath belt plate that also secures his cap box. Cradled in his hands is his
1840 cavalry saber which is secured to his saber rig. The 1/6 plate tintype comes in a case with 2 pencil I.D.'s: Ike or Ira E. H__stock and ____ C. Simpson.
There were 23,000 of these revolvers issued to 8 cavalry regiments. This is quite possibly an image of Calvin C. Simpson of the 1st Missouri Cavalry. This
regiment saw most of its service in the Western Theater in Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. #3210=$1500.00
