The shell jacket that the private is wearing in this 1/6 plate tintype is in desperate need of an iron. It is wrinkled beyond belief. Was this
just pulled from a crate of new jackets to be issued to the recruits? The image is perfectly focused and crisp. The backdrop appears to have a
Sibley tent with a tree and a flag. The flag is immediately behind the subjects head with just the edge showing. Too bad the photographer didn't
pose this soldier in a better position. The image comes with a fantastic patriotic mat and a 1/2 thermoplastic case. Additionally, the remnants
of a GAR badge came with the image. The silk ribbon is mostly gone, but the eagle pin and 5 pointed star are included.
