The seated soldier has a double breasted uniform that has very unusual red braiding the runs laterally across the buttons. This is similar to what is occasionally
seen in Mississippi uniforms except for the looping braid on the outside of the buttons. The braiding is tinted red. Could he be an Artillery Musician? His wife is
clearly proud of him and she holds her hand on her stomach as if she might be pregnant. I cant quite make out what the backdrop is either. Are they mountains or castles?
The image has been professionally sealed by someone prior to my acquiring it. I believe this an ambrotype. It is a quarter plate. The image comes in a 1/2 case, but would
look fantastic married to a thermoplastic case. #4899=$485.00
