A 1/9 plate clear ambrotype of a young soldier wearing a dark shell jacket with a vest underneath. The buttons on the jacket have only been lightly gilded
and three of them appear to be South Carolina Palmetto buttons. I've included 3 scans for your review. The third scan I did at 1200 dpi and focused on the
buttons specifically. The two larger images have not been adjusted for lightness or contrast, but the scan with the buttons has, in an effort to illustrate
the device on the buttons. The image is generally dark as can be seen in the larger scans. The focus, however, is VERY good and you can make out the design
as well as a near prefect focus on the face and particularly the eyes. There is no identification and the ambrotype comes in a 1/2 case. #5446=$275.00
