This is an absolutely fantastic image of Sanford H. Perkins with a Secesh Horse "Whose owner had just been taken prisoner at Cornwallis' Cave, Yorktown."
A Brady image, this has further identification as (on reverse): " This officer is Capt Perkins of my Company. He bought the horse of Mrs. Farnshold (?)
whose husband was an officer with the Rebels. Perkins enlisted with the 1st CT Heavy Artillery and then transferred to the 14th CT Infantry on 6/7/1862.
This unit was heavily engaged throughout the war. Perkins was severely wounded in the neck at Fredericksburg, VA on 12/13/1862. #JS1041=$350.00
