This 6 5/8" x 8 5/8" albumen is a reprint from an earlier image. The soldier is identified as James Davis who served with
the 63rd, VA Infantry. Davis enlisted on 9/1/1863 at Saltville, VA. He was identified as absent without leave on 1/13/1864.
He was born in 1839 in Wytheville, VA. The 63rd saw a lot of action to include (but not limited to): Chancellorsville, Chickamauga,
Missionary Ridge, Spotsylvania Courthouse, Resaca, Atlanta, Marietta, Nashville, Franklin and Bentonville just to mention a few.
I bumped up the contrast on the reverse of the image to show the pencil I.D. It's a bit lighter in fact than the scan shows. The
image is on stiff cardboard and has been trimmed at the base. #JS1077=$175.00
