This 1/9 plate tintype features a super rare James Warner Model Revolver circa 1851. Thanks to Ted Caldwell for the I.D. on this revolver. Check out his website at caldwellandcompany.net
There were several hundred of these pistols made in the early 1850s. They were .31 caliber being a 6 shot round cylinder with etched decorations. This revolver has a 4" barrel. The revolver
had a two piece walnut grip and a blue finish. This early, solid frame revolver is attributed to James Warner and is believed to be his first revolving handgun made on a production basis. In
addition to the revolver holster on his hip, this soldier also has a knife sheath on his other hip to hold the knife that he holds in his hands in an aggressive fighting position. He wears a 4
button sack coat and a kepi. The image did not scan well. The scan appears to have horizontal streaks across the face, but it is just heavy emulsion. The image is much better in person. The
unidentified tintype comes in a full thermoplastic case that simply in superb condition. You won't be disappointed with this image. #11637=$450.00
