The mat on this 1/4 plate ambrotype is signed by S. Broadbent. Samuel Broadbent (1810-1880) followed his friend and distant relative Samuel Morse who introduced him where he worked for the next nearly thirty years. In addition to daguerreotypes, the Broadbent studio also produced ambrotypes and tintypes. This artistically posed
ambrotype illustrates Broadbent's early history as a portrait painter. The addition of the basket of flowers (slightly tinted) and the chair make this a fantastic image
for any collection. The leatherette case is in good condition with its original binding. #12007=$250.00
