Whether Yank or Reb I don't know. There is writing in the back of the case for this 1/9 plate tintype that reads, in part "Germantown, Jefferson Co Kentucky". There is some other stuff, but I can't quite make it out. The soldier sits in his shell jacket with two cuff buttons (confederate?) and no trim on the cuffs or collar (confederate?). He sits with his elbow on a shaker style table with a column and a painted backdrop. There is a Germantown that is now in the Louisville area (the city has grown quite a bit since the Civil War as you can image). There is also a Germantown, KY. Further research might shed some light on who this might be. The image isclear and well focused and comes in a full leatherette case. #12070=$700.00
