Early War Officer in a 1/6 ruby ambrotype. The coat lacks the cuff chevrons of the Federal issue frock. The shoulder tabs are characteristic of early war coast distributed by a number of states. This image came out of New Hampshire and comes in a full leatherette case. Although there is no I.D. from the unadorned cuffs and the trimmed cloth shoulder tabs on his frock coat, we know he is wearing a Lincoln & Shaw contract coat which means he's early New Hampshire. He wears a type 2 Purinton & Ham havelock hat. He could be 8th NHV, but he is most likely 6th NHV. This image is fantastic and bright.
