The sister image to this 1/4 plate tintype has been published in Military Images Magazine volume XIX, Number 6; May-June 1998. The trooper wears tall cavalry boots. He
also wears a 4 button sack coat and kepi. He sits on a camp chair in front of a detailed military back drop with a lot of tents, a fort and flag. The tintype is a bit darker
than I would prefer and has a surface blemish. There is no ID with this image and it comes in a 1/2 leatherette case. The 1st VT cavalry was a VERY hard fought unit. They
lost 10 officers killed or mortally wounded with 4 more dying of disease or accident. They lost 124 killed or mortally wounded with 300 lost to disease or accident. The regiment
fought at such places as Middletown, VA; Winchester, VA; Broad Run, VA; Gettysburg, PA; Hagerstown, MD; Culpepper, VA; Brandy Station, VA; The Wilderness, Yellow Tavern, VA; Cedar
Creek, VA and finally Appomattox just to mention a few. #1349=$225.00
