I had originally thought this 1/9 ambrotype in a thermoplastic case was a confederate artilleryman. Thanks to some
identification work from my friend Bill Rodio, we now believe he is, in fact, an early 2nd NH infantryman. Apparently,
this unit was issued grey uniforms with bright red trim. The focus is a little soft and there is surface crazing, but
otherwise, this image is solid and come from a notable Civil War unit. The unit was everywhere in the east to include:
1st Bull Run, Seven Pines, Gains' Mill, Malvern Hill, 2nd Bull Run, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Petersburg,
Cold Harbor and Fair Oaks just to mention a few. #1686=$225.00
