This crystal clear 1/6 plate ruby ambrotype features a soldier with a plug hat and a jean cloth shell jacket. This fellow has a Confederate
air, but 6 of his 7 buttons appear to be NY State Seal buttons. The jacket has a belt loop on his right hip, a breast pocket and buttons on
the shoulders at the collar, presumably for shoulder tabs. There is no piping on the cuffs. Could these buttons have been taken from the body
of a "good" Yankee? I can't make out the title of the book on the table, but it had significance of some kind at one time. The images comes in
a full wood and paper case that has a repaired spine. No identification with this ambrotype. #1943=$375.00
