Published in "Civil War Hard Images Volume 2" this 1/4 plate tintype has been taken outside in front of a canvas backdrop with an extensive battle scene. Note
the ground with sticks and debris. The canvas scene is pretty crudely painted, but would have required a massive amount of work. On the left of the backdrop, are
Union soldiers following an officer who has climbed a hill and holds the American flag. On the right are Confederates, some of whom are holding the line while other are
in full retreat. There is a CSA flag that appears to be falling from a flag pole on the confederate side. Toward the bottom is a large painted boulder and on the lower
left is a man sitting doing who knows what. The soldier wears a frock coat, rectangular belt plate and a cap box on his leather waist belt. There is brass hunting horn
device on his kepi. This image comes in an old wooden frame with a foil mat. There is no I.D. #3026=$400.00
