The trooper in this nicely tinted 1/6 plate tintype holds his cavalry sword unsheathed for the camera. He wears his shell jacket and kepi with gilded crossed cannons and the letter "A". He stands on green tinted grass with a canvas back and side. The image is will focused and comes in a full case that has been repaired at the spine. The I.D. in pencil in the back of the case is N A Ayers. Nathan Ayres was from Bloomington, IL and enlisted on 7/3/1861. He was captured at the battle of Lexington, MO on 9/20/1861 and later paroled. He was discharged in October after serving his 90 obligation. The image is super well focused and nicely tinted. #3398=$850.00
