There is a lot to look at in this 1/4 plate tintype that comes in a full paper and wood case with
its original binding still intact. This officer wears a civilian coat and a military kepi. He has
a rectangular eagle belt plate on his belt and has an empty scabbard on his hip. Tucked under his
belt is a revolver, but I'm not able to make out what kind. He holds a foot officer's infantry sword
and has an officer of the day sash. Interestingly, there is a chair to one side and a rifle on the other;
both intended to be out of the shot. I suspect that the rifle is the photographer's prop used in this outdoor
tent studio. The focus is a bit soft, but otherwise a great 1/4 plate image. #3451=$485.00
