1/8 plate tintype in a very rare thermoplastic case, mat and keeper. This trooper wears an early war shell jacket with brass shoulder scales. The jacket is trimmed in red and the red
is bright and crisp. On top of the kepi you can just barely make out the crossed cannons. He holds an unsheathed saber and a .44 caliber Colt 1861 Army revolver with an 8" barrel. His
trousers have the doubled lined seams issued to mounted troopers. This tintype is taken outside in front of a tent or sheet. You can see debris on the ground under his feet. This image is
