Augur, C.C. (1821 - 1898); U.S. Military Academy class of 1843. Fought in the Mexican War and later saw frontier service. Attained rank of major in 1861
in the Regular Army. Spent the first few months of the civil war as commandant of cadets at West Point. He saw action in the Peninsular campaign and was
severely wounded at Cedar Mountain. He was brevetted brigadier and major general and ultimately promoted to brigadier general of the regular army in 1869.
